The New York State Cannabis Control Board (CCB) held its monthly public meeting at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, emphasizing its commitment to transparency, regional engagement, and the equitable development of the adult-use cannabis industry. During the meeting, the CCB approved 101 new adult-use cannabis licenses, bringing the total number of licenses issued to 1,614. This includes 255 CAURD (Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary) licenses, with 55% of these held by Social and Economic Equity (SEE) licensees. The approval of these licenses marks significant progress in the state’s effort to expand access to the regulated cannabis market, support small businesses, and create economic opportunities in diverse communities.
The 101 newly approved licenses include various categories: 2 adult-use cultivator licenses, 14 adult-use distributor licenses, 14 adult-use microbusiness licenses, 42 adult-use processor licenses, and 29 adult-use retail dispensary licenses. This achievement reflects the ongoing work to complete the review of the November licensing queue and signals the state’s continued efforts to create a robust and inclusive cannabis industry. The CCB’s actions align with its goal of fostering a fair and sustainable market, ensuring that communities affected by past marijuana criminalization have opportunities to benefit from the emerging legal industry.
